The number of API calls made by Orca (for each cloud provider) is dependent on the environment. Here is a brief description of how Orca determines the number of API calls to make:
- Orca performs API calls.
- If you reach the threshold, Orca will pause to reduce the number of API calls.
- The delay duration is based on randomness and the number of API rate limit issues we see. If we see an increase, we’ll wait longer and there is always randomness.
- We have implemented several mechanisms in an effort to be efficient and conservative with the API calls we make today. We are also working on caching and trigger-based change queries to significantly reduce the number of API calls.
